Banner Ad campaign

Whenever you are browsing either the internet or on social media you are very likely to see a banner advertisement. They are located normally at the top or the bottom of a webpage. With Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites introducing headers and cover photos it makes it easier and cheaper to promote businesses or let people know what you are about without diving into much detail or a page of text. They can come in many sizes and if they are located on a webpage they usually are linked to a hyperlink to an external page.

“What branding advertisers came to feel about banner ads is that banner ads are not the most effective vehicle for branding. Relative to a magazine ad or a TV ad, banner ads are small and easily ignored.” (HowStuffWorks, 2017) This suggests that banner advertising is maybe not as successful as it used to be with the vast amount of advertising that is seen on the internet. From personal experiences its also difficult to determine what adverts are virus free so you need to careful when looking at adverts taking you away from where you were browsing originally. Although “In the US. Online advertising formats as banner ads, video, rich media and sponsorship will account for the largest share of digital ad spending: 47.9%, worth $32.17Billion.” (Katai, 2017). This suggests otherwise and businesses are still willing to pay for banner advertising as potentially it could reach millions of people but only if you are willing to pay enough.

I had an attempt at making some banners of my own. Two of which were adverts showing some sort of discount or special offer. The other one was just a banner showing the slogan with the logo in the corner of the advertisement. This would be presented on my Facebook page at the top as my “Cover photo”.
